If this second method does not work, you can try doing the first method listed. It seems that the green folder playlist is mainly meant for the ones you import from Apple Music, even though it will also show the ones you have synced from the desktop app over WiFi. The reason for creating your own "Local Files" playlist is so you can actually download them. You might also then see a playlist in Your Library with a green folder with a blue background with your local files inside just like you do when using the other method. Once it finishes syncing the local files over WiFi, you should see them all there. Then in the Spotify iOS app, go find the "Local Files" playlist you just made in the desktop app and then tap on the download icon. Then on your iPhone, connect to the same WiFi network that your computer is using and make sure the Spotify desktop app is still open. Create a new playlist named "Local Files" then use keyboard shortcut either CMD + A or CTRL + A to highlight all the Local Files and drag from the Your Library section to this newly created playlist. Then go to Your Library -> Local Files list. Spotify desktop app settings -> Turn on show local files and then add the source location. iOS and Android: The second way is to add the folder where your files are located on your computer as a Local Files location in the Spotify desktop app settings and then sync them to your phone over WiFi.You will then see a playlist in Your Library with a green folder with a blue background with your local files inside.Īndroid: You can import local files that are stored directly on your phone iOS: First way is to import the files to the iTunes app on your computer and then sync these to the Apple Music app on your iPhone and then allow Spotify iOS app to import these files.(They only show up grey before being synced if you are using the second way listed below) I prefer using the second way (WiFi) listed below.įirst you will want to go into the Spotify iOS app settings -> Playback and make sure to turn off "hide unplayable songs" so you can see the Local Files, but they will be greyed out before they are synced. These also work similar for the Android app. There are 2 ways to add Local Files to the iOS app. If you're also looking to add Local Files to the Spotify mobile app, I am pasting my previous answer below: (at least that was the case last I checked) If the files are in a cloud source, you will need to download them to a folder on your computer, and then add that source in the Spotify settings. You need to add a source location that it stored on your computer locally. I do not own the name "Spotify", the album art and song title. You can't add a cloud source for your Local Files in the Spotify desktop app. It seems many have tried it out and in this case, I will try to continue on new builds for this. However, I am looking to add new features for this preset. This preset was made with no Apple Scripts and I am still learning the ropes to incorporate scripts. Changed the maximum length of the title to accommodate longer song titles.Changed icons for the back and forward navigation buttons.Removed the back/forwards buttons, however you can add buttons with Command + Option + Left/Right to regain this functionality.Fixed bug or unresponsiveness with the volume control.Added a new Spotify button, which you can press to quit the app.Added a more options group with various controls such as adding playlists, skipping 15 seconds and volume controls.Added a settings button in the expanded view New Control Strip design to fit with macOS.Reply if you want any other features to add. You can also edit them as well to your preference. This should be compatible for more people, who don't have SF Symbols I have added a different version of the preset, which has images as icons, instead of text. If you would like a version with image icons, hit me up below. This app requires macOS 10.14.4 or later. Most of the icons are Apple's SF Text icons, which will require the SF Symbols app in order to display the icons correctly ( ). If people are interested in a trigger only preset, feel free to comment below. Due to the images, the preset size increased. This should be compatible for more people, who don't have SF Symbols. The below preset has images as icons, instead of text. All done Apple Script free.Ĭurrent Version – Spotify.bttpreset (282.5 KB) Use it to control playback, view current track, change volume and various other shortcuts.
